Problem, solved.

Cloud Cost Management made easy.
How I designed a SaaS solution that would empower businesses to gain full visibility and control over their cloud expenses.

The Background

As cloud adoption accelerated across industries, organizations found themselves relying on an increasing variety of cloud services to drive innovation. At Fujitsu, we saw this shift firsthand—our own teams faced challenges in managing multi-cloud environments efficiently. While cloud services provided unparalleled flexibility and scalability, they also introduced complexities in cost tracking, budget forecasting, and financial governance.

As a UX Manager, I worked alongside my team to design a SaaS solution that would empower businesses to gain full visibility and control over their cloud expenses. Our goal was clear: create a seamless, intuitive platform that simplifies cloud cost management without compromising flexibility.

The Problem

From the start, I recognized that cloud cost management was more than just a numbers game; it was a deeply human challenge. Finance teams were overwhelmed with fragmented data, IT leaders were struggling to optimize cloud usage, and project managers lacked the insights they needed to make informed decisions. Yet, existing tools were either too complex, requiring deep technical expertise, or too simplistic, failing to provide actionable insights. If we wanted our solution to succeed, we had to bridge this gap—creating an experience that empowered every stakeholder, regardless of their technical background.

The Solution

My approach was rooted in deep user research and collaboration. I worked closely with finance teams, IT professionals, and executives to understand their pain points, workflows, and decision-making processes. Through extensive usability testing and iterative design, I ensured that our product delivered clear, actionable insights rather than overwhelming users with raw data. I championed customizable dashboards that adapted to different roles, allowing executives to see high-level financial summaries while enabling IT teams to drill down into granular cost details. To simplify complex forecasting, I led the design of interactive budget planning tools, ensuring users could anticipate costs rather than react to overruns. I also worked closely with engineering to balance technical feasibility with an intuitive user experience, ensuring our platform was both powerful and easy to navigate.

The Benefits

The impact of this UX-first approach was transformative.

  • Finance teams could forecast budgets with confidence, reducing unexpected cost spikes.
  • IT leaders gained real-time visibility into cloud usage, making optimization easier.
  • Project managers were finally able to allocate resources effectively, ensuring financial transparency across teams.

Beyond individual benefits, our user-centered design approach fostered a cultural shift, moving cloud cost management from a frustrating challenge to a strategic advantage. By prioritizing clarity, accessibility, and usability, I helped turn a complex technical problem into an intuitive and empowering experience, ensuring the product’s success and driving real business impact.
